WOLF COLLECTION
By the mid-1980s, hunting, trapping, and poisoning caused the extinction of The Mexican gray wolf in the wild. In 1998 the wolves were reintroduced into the wild as part of a federal reintroduction program under the Endangered Species Act. The red wolf is one of the world’s most endangered wild canids. It was declared an endangered species in 1973 due to intensive predator control programs and loss of habitat. The USFWS declared red wolves extinct in the wild in 1980. As of December 2020, there is a single wild population comprising of only 8 known individuals.

FOX COLLECTION
The threats to the fox population include habitat loss and fragmentation, exploitation and hunting. In the early 1900s, foxes were routinely hunted, as well as raised, for their fur. The fox fur was one of the most in-demand furs on the market, second only to mink. Habitat loss and degradation is a large problem for fox populations today. Already highly vulnerable to extinction due to its perilously small population size and reduced genetic diversity, some fox species face many dire threats to their habitat, including logging, off-road and over-snow vehicles, livestock grazing and fish stocking. The fox is also endangered by climate change. It is projected to shrink the fox's habitat as temperatures warm and push the animal farther up mountain slopes.

KOALA COLLECTION
More than 60,000 koalas were among the animals badly affected by the bushfire crisis in Australia a year ago. That is a devastating number for a species that was already sliding towards extinction in eastern Australia. Rappville and Wardell in northern NSW were among the worst-affected areas, with up to 80% of the local koala population killed by bushfires. In NSW, a parliamentary inquiry has found koalas would be extinct in the state by 2050 without action to save habitat.

SNOW LEOPARD COLLECTION
Exact numbers are unknown, but there may be as few as 3,920 and probably no more than 6,390. This elusive cat is facing a number of threats, including poaching. To protect their herds and livelihoods, herders sometimes kill snow leopards in retribution. This may account for more than half of all snow leopard killings. As if that were not enough, the snow leopard also faces threats that could destroy the mountain ecosystem it relies on, such as mining and other large-scale development. Climate Change poses new challenges as well.
